Barnes and Leigus Rds in Wallingford
While fixing a misplaced place near a recent drive in Wallingford, I notice something strange about the nearby road names.
I think these two segments, currently named Leigus Rd, Should be renamed to Barnes Rd, possibly with an alt of Barnes Rd #4

And that they should have a speed limit of 25 mph.
Leigus rd itself, which is perpendicular to Barnes Rd, should have a speed limit of 35 mph as far south as Greib Rd.
Any objections?

The thing that tipped me off was the SV here:

So I found a map.
According to Wallingford's official street map:
http://town.wallingford.ct.us/images/cu ... lfdmap.pdf
These segments should actually be Barnes Rd (perhaps even Barnes Rd #4, though I doubt even local drivers would routinely use all the numbers for the now-disconnected brances of Barnes Rd)
This seems to be supported by the addresses of the businesses located on the eastern end of this stretch.
These two segments of Barnes Rd #4 run parellel to Barnes Rd.
Speed limits for Barnes Rd, Barnes Rd #4, and Leigus Rd are listed where you'd expect them to be listed:
http://www.ct.gov/dot/lib/dot/documents ... ngford.pdf
I was wondering how Barnes rd came to be this way, so I looked up an old topographical map from the 50s.
It seems that Barnes Rd used to sort of follow the route now followed by its disconnected pieces until Church Rd was built sort of through it:

You can see, in the topo, that Barnes Rd runs right along the Southern edge of the North Farms Reservoir, just as the segments in question do today, and that Leigus Rd extends all the way to it, just as it does today. Though the Wallingford town map pdf (dated 1999) seems to be missing the northernmost segment of Leigus Rd, now labeled as the Leigus Rd extension, which seems more-or-less logical, though I can't find the extension listed as such on the town map, the posted speed limit sheet, or the LGS (which seems to just say Leigus Rd).
