Leonia NJ - Overpeck Park

Post by mrsmith66
The Leonia PD has contacted the Waze editing community to request assistance.

The problem is that when I-95/80 back up, traffic is getting routed through the park.

The PD points out that there is a "No Outlet" sign at either end, though this is obviously not true.

How would you fix this? Lower to PLR?

Mark, i'm not familiar with the area and the routing issues but if there is to be no through routing at all then you can set up a gate on both sides of the park causing only routing to park locations.

I have responded back asking about the "No Outlet" vs something else like "No Through Traffic"

PD states that they will talk to the County about changing the signs to "No Through Traffic"

That's what I did - PR at each end of the park for a short segment (two-way), locked up to L3, NOTE posted at each end. I also communicated back with the PD.

If anybody has a better idea I'm open to changing it again.

I came to say everything PS said, only I'd have been less eloquent.
So ... x2 for PR at the request of PD. Lock it up and drop a note.

If we have communication from local traffic control (typically the local PD) that it's a no-through-traffic zone, we should probably treat it as superseding a lack of a posted sign, right?

Private Road should be adequate, though if you want to get fancy with standard private installation (PI) gates, you could too, but as of now, that just strikes me as an unnecessary complication.

In any case, let's be sure to up-lock the result - L3 for a park road should be plenty, I think - and leave a [NOTE] comment describing the situation. :)
