NJTP Northbound was broken

Somehow it is a level 1 map and no turns allowed near permalink above. Edited by banished?

Waze noted a number of Waze-generated URs in the area a few weeks ago and asked me to look into it. As others in this thread have noted, the area is under construction. Here was my response to Waze.
===============

Thank you for calling this to my attention. This road is under major construction and there will no doubt be periods where the Waze road segments no longer align correctly as the construction crews divert traffic to accommodate the construction. Please see http://njturnpikewidening.com/ for additional information.

I do not drive this road daily, so the day-to-day changes may not be reflected in Waze. I have reduced the lock level to 1 so that others who have better visibility on the day-to-day activities can adjust the segments accordingly.

Uh, huh, but it got everyone's attention in a hurry, didn't it? :P So intention, even if drastic, served. I thought it odd that Waze would have to contact me, but now they and I -- and any other CM paying attention -- know who is going to work this.

You're welcome! Now, back to my nap.

This was all fouled up when I drove it this morning. Screenshot from my client http://i.imgur.com/QrLDuoE.png

Found the offending segment further north, that was preventing routing of any traffic northbound on the Turnpike past exit 8: http://i.imgur.com/ULNmvM6.jpg

We've got to be more careful. Clearly this segment was modified by a lower level editor--these segments need to be locked AT LEAST at level 3 to avoid this in the future. I checked the rest of the northbound segments up through the split, looks OK. Definitely a big problem for anyone driving on the Turnpike north today using Waze though...it will be routing them off at exit 8, up 130 for a tick, then back over to the Turnpike. Already several UR complaining about this.

While in this area, I noticed this jumble of roads: https://www.waze.com/editor/?zoom=6&lat ... TTTFTTTFTT

Anyone know what's going on at this interchange?

Banished, well intentioned definitely--but leaving segments of the NJ Tpke editable by anyone is not always the best idea. At least that's my thought. I don't want to over-step my bounds here or anything, but that's usually how I've seen things occur for situations like this to avoid any problems or mistakes.

As was evidenced by the debacle above--a simple missed turn restriction effected every single person driving NB for a couple days until it was resolved. In this case, leaving it at a level 3 lock, and having people put in user reports (and posting here) is definitely the best way to go about having it updated properly over time.

I generally drive the Tpke NB/SB from the DMB through Exit 11 a couple times a month, so I try to keep an eye on any major changes to the road that would affect routing. Unless something huge changes, I like to leave things be until the construction is (mostly) complete.

Definitely appreciate the work and effort you put into the community overall.

LeoKantus wrote:Just to provide an update, there's been a change at Exit 7A in Robbinsville. There was an update request that a new exit going northbound has been cut in. I moved it to where it looks like the roadwork has been going in the area, and I'll check to make sure I hit the right spot as I'll be in the area later today. If any URs come up in the area, it's probably due to the client having not updated yet.

Also, I found this at Exit 8 in East Windsor. It looks like we have a new user (Brazucany) who is going off of the way-outdated maps and relaying everything from the old exit configuration as unnamed segments.

I unhooked all the wrong segments, got rid of any new junction nodes created by the mess, and locked all roads affected by the construction at Level 3. (I hate to be heavy-handed with locks, but so be it for the time being.) I left the bad segments as an example for the moment and will clean it up in a bit, but would someone be willing to contact him to inform him about this area or tell me how to go about doing so? I haven't yet figured out how to track down other users without sifting through the 1000+ page member lists.
I'll contact with him. Did you also take screen shots?

I locked it all to at least level 3. This is part of an ongoing construction zone that makes the aerial images outdated and likely an editor (I doubt it was banished - that "last edited by" field works in weird ways) didn't realize that.
