Got an update request located here:

I thought that after 9/11 they closed that road through Camp Lejune. Did they open it back up to civilian traffic. I haven't been able to find anything definitive in a search.

Yeah, most everything I see is pretty old (~2007) and talks about how it is closed to civilian traffic through the base.

I did run across a story from February of this year (http://www.wwaytv3.com/2012/01/06/nc-17 ... ire-clears). It mentions the "Triangle Outpost gate" so by that I would guess they are still checking for military ID/stickers.

Also, a story from 2011 (http://www.enctoday.com/articles/fire-8 ... ntrol.html) talks about how they opened it to civilian traffic for a detour. So at least last year it was still restricted to military use.

I would say that this falls into the situation of HOV lanes and restricted time-of-day lanes, Waze just can't handle that restriction now. It is better to have NC-172 closed and inconvenience the 1 person that does have military ID and uses Waze than to direct the greater number of civilians through it.
