Road Closures

Post by
As I get more busy here at work I have been trying to get more organized with my Waze work. I have edited quite a few long term road closures in the state and would like to set up a list for the road closures so that everyone in the state can see and edit as needed.

I believe I have three options:

1) NC State to do list in the wiki - Might be an option but the US wiki pages by state probably needs to be reorganized to the new structure.

2) A common post here in the North Carolina State Topics

3) A post here linking to the Google Doc

What do you all think would work best for the community?

This is how we track things in CT using the wiki: https://www.waze.com/wiki/index.php/Con ... nstruction It's linked to off the CT Main Page.

Each State should have their own Wiki Page(s) and it's just a matter of putting things into categories due to the reorganization.

Andy your wiki looks good as well. Have you had much success with others editing it though and keeping it up to date. I think a Google Doc is the way to go with permissions and such. It just seems to make things more fluid and easier than a wiki page could be. One benefit I can see is that there is no owner of the wiki page which is why I was considering it.

Thoughts?
Yes, others have updated it several times. The nice thing is that changes can be easily tracked & rolled back if someone butchers the table code or vandalizes the page. And you don't need a gmail account to access it.

Well that sucks.

I have used the forums quite a bit, but I'm the type to search well before posting.
You should have access to the wiki from the day you joined Waze - you may have to login using "Anotherhiggins" as your username over there. If that doesn't work PM me and I may have something else for you to try.

Every page has a "What links here" under "Toolbox" in the left hand column: http://www.waze.com/wiki/index.php/Spec ... onnecticut.

The main USA Page (for now) is http://www.waze.com/wiki/index.php/Mapp ... _%28USA%29, but with the Community Reorganization, that will probably change.
Also, do you care that I use your main page as a guide for North Carolina?
Have at it, many others have used it as a base for their state pages.

That's what happens when anyone is allowed to edit the Wiki... **Sigh**

Let me talk to Kent about this...

I like the idea of a Google Doc. That way we could all edit it as we are making changes or when we find out new information.

If we try to manage it here in a thread I think it will be confusing to keep track of the latest information on any given closure.

Ignore my previous comment. When I tried to log on to the wiki the other day with my Waze credentials it denied me. I poked around and found a page that listed criteria you should meet before editing the wiki, and 100 forum posts was listed.

I just tried logging into the wiki again so I'd have the exact message for a PM to Andy.... but now I'm in.

HD - I'd be happy to help with it.

Andy: http://www.waze.com/wiki/index.php/Update_this_Wiki

It's linked to from the main page: From http://www.waze.com/wiki/ go to You can make Waze even better > Update this Wiki.

The text on that page:
You are a very experienced Wazer?

Editing Waze maps is easy. But before you start contributing to the Waze Wiki it is recommendable to have a very good understanding and experience of Waze and its forums, because some details of Waze only can be understood if you have a very good Waze knowledge.
If you are a very experienced Wazer who's Dashboard shows more than 25000 map updates AND driven 2500 km (1500 miles) with Waze AND 60000 Waze Points AND 100 Forum Posts, then your help is very welcome to make the Waze Wiki better.
I had assumed that I wasn't being allowed to log in until I submitted a request or something.
