Naming conventions

Postby Mike-1323 » Tue Jul 10, 2012 4:28 pm

I know it is Waze's practice to differentiate state highway and state routes when parsing for TTS. But what about Virginia that only has primary and secondary routes. Primary get shields and secondary get circles. Should the VA primary routes be listed as state highways? I wonder this because the Fairfax County Parkway (along with a few others) was recently elevated to a primary route with a new number. Some of us have gone through and relabeled as SR-286 but it is equivalent to what other states consider a state highway.

I wonder how the road badge system will work in the US when different states have different badges for their routes. I bet Waze will not have the option to badge state routes.

SR-### would indicate a state highway. There's no difference between a State Route and a State Highway except what the local people call it. Most maps use SR or State Route.
