When there are no Wazers

Postby banished » Thu Jan 30, 2014 4:49 am

Currently, much of the Southeastern US is at a traffic standstill because of a rare freezing precipitation event (freezing rain, sleet, snow) last night. On the Northern Florida Gulf Coast, long stretches of Interstate 10 (I-10) are closed, as is any other road with a long bridge that goes over water because of icing. The temperature never made it above 28F all day and at 2300 hours, the temp is back down to where it was this morning, 23F.

Because of this, there are no Wazers out as traffic probes, so all these closed roads don't indicate any problem in the Live Map. Neither does Googe Maps. So I opened my Navigon app and it shows all these roads as closed.

Waze needs to consider other sources of traffic information in addition to Wazers.
