Google self-driving car, aka What do they need Waze for?

Interesting, but except to mention the idea that we could get rid of the concept of private cars and the ability for hackers to compromise driving systems, the article doesn't really address traffic as a system. I can see why Google would not at this point mention having any form of outside control in the driverless cars, but surely having the car determine the best route would fit well with the driverless car concept. Ultimately the goal of waze is to control traffic, is it not?. That would seem to me to entirely compatible with the self-driving concept.
