My content is geared to the vehicle based cameras which can be rapidly moved around to multiple places in a day. The school type cameras in MD generally are in one place for a while at a time AFAIK, and can be reported and confirmed in map like regular speed cameras.CBenson wrote:I agree that Mobile speed cameras are rather state specific. In Maryland cameras are authorized in construction zones. Those tend to be the ones mounted on vehicles. But Maryland also authorizes speed cameras in school zones. Some counties thus rotate their limited supply of cameras from school to school over time. So so a portable camera can look like this or this (go back in the street view history to see the camera).kentsmith9 wrote:I believe Mobile speed cameras a state specific, but I guess speed cameras in general are also state specific.PesachZ wrote:I added to the NY test page content on Mobile Speed Cameras included below for convenience. You may want to add a version of this to hard-coded Camera content.

I am not contradicting the MD wiki which says "However, if the speed camera is not portable or is not moved on a regular basis, then it should be on the map."CBenson wrote:They could, but the current guidance in MD is not to report them and confirm like regular speed cameras.PesachZ wrote:The school type cameras in MD generally are in one place for a while at a time AFAIK, and can be reported and confirmed in map like regular speed cameras.
If it is relatively stationary (more than a week or so), I would say to put out on map. This is also the intent of the quote from the MD wiki I think. Cameras which move frequently (or rotate), should be reported as hidden police (which is not a adding to the map, and is compliant with the MD wiki I think)

I had forgotten about those because we just got vehicle cameras in ny , that was my focus on the NY page. But my intention was add I just posted above.CBenson wrote:Ok. What caught my attention was the emphasis on the vehicle based cameras, when we do have non-vehicle based cameras that are moved regularly.

They're not so much mobile as they are portable. They are rather hefty, but not permanently installed, so they can be moved by a crew.Fredo-p wrote:I've never seen non-vehicle based mobile cameras before.CBenson wrote:Ok. I noticed all the subpages created from the talk page, the ones used to fill the main page with unique data ({{BasePage2}}/xxx/Main), and the subpages ({{BasePage2}}/xxx) do not include the state category and probably should all have it hard coded or pre-loaded into the header somewhere using
Code: Select all

Try to first move the original page, and any old subpages to a new location. For example move Arizona to Arizona/OLD TEMP, and Arizona/To do (assuming there's an old page with that name you need to replace) to Arizona/OLD TEMP/To do . This will leave a redirect page behind. Then try to move the new page and all its subpages to replace that redirect page.Fredo-p wrote:Nope. I don't have permission to move a page to another that already has that name. Test everything that its working right, and double check that there is no lost information which wasn't merged over from the old pages. Check and fix any links to the old pages, to point to the correct place in the new pages.
Then after a few weeks if everything is good, mark the old pages for deletion by either sending a PM to kentsmith9, or placing the {{ToDelete}} template on each page.

I didn't pay close attention to the edit history part. Apparently only a wiki admin will be able to move these pages like Kent said earlier. You should probably send kent a PM.CBenson wrote:The Move instructions state:PesachZ wrote:Try to first move the original page, and any old subpages to a new location. This means that you can rename a page back to where it was renamed from if you make a mistake, and you cannot overwrite an existing page.
So I'm not understanding how to move the Maryland/Test page to be the Maryland page. Is this something I can actually do?

If anyone has a state page problem, you may need to post here, and then send me a PM to alert me specifically. I was not aware there were any restrictions on moved of pages, so for now I can move any that people tell me about.

If you don't have the template yet and want to make one for your state, you need to start a new page under your state page. The new page name must start with "Test", so Connecticut/Test, Connecticut/Testing, Connecticut/Test page etc all work. The instructions for starting a new page are in the CommonState Template documentation.pumrum wrote:I took a look thru this thread, but didn't see clear instructions on how to "go live" with the new template. I want to make the CT page live, and I have a feeling it just involves moving things, but don't want to bork anything up. Can you update the OP with a couple quick steps for:
1) if your state doesn't have a template yet, and you want to create one (if applicable for other states)
2) if your state already has a new template and you're ready to go live
Thanks for all the hard work!
If you've completed testing and want to go live with your page, send a PM to kentsmith9 with the links of the new and old pages describing which pages are to be replaced. He will move everything for you.
Edit: typo
