Cheating prevention notice template
A new page on Cheating Prevention has been added by the staff, and they added a link to it from the add-ons extensions and scripts page. I made this template to streamline the way we link to the cheating prevention page from other pages in a nice format.
The goal is for it to be uniform, simple, straightforward, concise, and in plain English. It is not meant to define cheating, throttling, or any of the mechanics of the system. It is merely a notice that such a system exists and a link for more info. It should be placed on pages where the affected users would see it, namely the page for the editing scripts and bookmarklets which could trigger it.
I have so far added this template to the script page in place of the link that staff had added. Their original text was put in as an additional subsection of map editing. It has also been added to the bookmarklet page. I have discussed with the Toolbox team, and will add it to their page as well.
The template includes a [[Category:Mass edits]] which can be used to track all pages related to this issue.
This forum thread is to discuss the formatting, text, placement of this notice, and which pages it should be on. Any discussion on the actual mechanics of this system, it's merits, demerits, implications, etc. should not happen in this thread. A new thread is being created in the WME forum specifically to discuss the details of this system.
The template is {{Cheat warn}}, and produces an info box with the following message:
