Wazeopedia has been launched!

Post by WonderLerm
Hi Everyone,

I am SOOO happy to say that we launched Wazeopedia today!!!!!

This has been a lo(oooo)ng time in the works and I have to hand it to the incredible community of Champs and Wiki Masters that worked super hard to make it a reality.

Launching simply means that the website and WME links (including new user feed messages) have been switched out to link to Wazeopedia.waze.com.

There is long road ahead of localizing links and updating pages, but we're off to a great start! I wanted to share a few helpful links to catch you up on the project, and guide on where to report any issues you see when using the new platform.
  • Wazeopedia Beta Forum is now the Wazeopedia Bugs forum
    • Feel free to log any issues you come across here.
      • I have expanded permissions (previous read only for beta testers) for all to post.
 There are still open bugs
      • No existing bugs were deemed blockers for launch, however they do exist.
If something you're encountering is not listed in the forum, or if it is listed as "fixed" but it is not fixed, please comment in the forum.
Please be sure to check that it's not already a known issue before posting a new bug.
:arrow:Connect with your local wiki teams[/url]
      • Your Coordiantor/Community Leaders can connect you with your local wiki teams. Reach out to them to learn how you can contribute to your local wiki!
      :arrow:Permissions in Wazeopedia
      • If you are not able to edit something in your Local wiki, please reach out to your local wiki team (see above)
 Need guidance on building your Local Wazeopedia?
      • We've added a Wazeopedia Help Portal with a few helpful links (with more to come). Before making edits, please check in with your local wiki teams.
Questions/Comments/Complaints/High fives can be posted here.

Again, thank you all SO MUCH for your feedback and patience, especially the Wiki Moderators and Wiki Masters :D

I'll be travelling tonight to the NA Regional Meetup, so may not be super fast to respond, but will do my best to address any issues once I'm connected again.

Very Best,
Karen

Hi Karen,

2 questions:
*I created the Qatar country page in the old wiki, just before wazeopedia was launched. It looks like it's not existing in a correct way yet, as in the UAE template. Could you have a look?
*Besides adding a Qatar local page, could you also add a country page for Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Oman?

Thanks!

Sorry for the delayed response (I was out of the office).

Can you describe what you mean by "the correct way"? The formatting that is set in UAE was done by the community, AFAIK. If you have content you'd like to bring over from an existing wiki, we would just need a transfer package (see this post for more info)

As for the other Middle East wikis, I will open a ticket to create these and update you.

Thanks!
Karen
Hi Karen,
Hope you had a great holiday!
The UAE is ok.
But the Qatar page isn't displayed right. Perhaps it needs a re-create.

EDIT: Qatar page and the flag is there. And it's waiting for editing/adding a main page. Seems OK now ;)

Thanks, it looks good!

Do I need to do something additional to get the UAE transfer package live, the PesachZ prepared for me?

Can we fix the way links work with Wazeopeida? Currently if a link takes you somewhere in the middle of a page it sets you further down the page than you want to be. Several lines. This happens to me on Win7 Firefox and Chrome, Win10 Chrome.

First I learned how to draw lines on a map. Now I must learn the art of Feng-ShWaze.

Hi everyone.

I'm keen to get Australia's Wazeopedia up and running (yes, we're very late to the party, I know).

Is creating a transfer package still the best way to start?

I have also been noticing this lately. The header of the section you clicked the link to is always off screen and you have to scroll up about 2 lines to make sure you are at the correct location.

:high five:

PS In case anyone finds it useful you can copy the template I wrote to redirect your country pages from the legacy wiki to their matching page in your local Wazopedia. I wrote a help page about it here. The template is here, just change all the places it says USA to your local Wazeopedia name. If anyone wants help I can make one for your country, just let me know.

A couple of questions:
  1. If we would like to request access to edit a specific Global Page, how would we request access? I didn't see a link on pages that we don't have permission to edit.
  2. Is there any way we can request expedition of certain pages to be migrated to the Global Wazeopedia? In particular, I am asking about Scripts (https://wiki.waze.com/wiki/Scripts/).

Hi RavenDT,

Thanks for the question! You can reach out to your local community leadership (specifically a Global or Local Champs) and they'll be able to guide you on where/how to edit and on expediting the transfer of any pages.

Hope that helps!
