Here's some info, and I am getting more clarification because it's still not crystal clear, on reporting cameras "Not there" in the app:
Perlin wrote:A camera is removed after the sum of the ranks of the users who reported "Not There" is greater than the the rank of the user who reported the camera.

This is one of the reasons why I am asking for more clarification as IMO, what Perlin wrote also does not match real life. And what does "removed" mean? Deleted? Or no longer gives alerts? (People have complained that cameras NEVER alert...)

Sagi and Perlin have concluded there is a bug with app-based camera removal. They have it on their list to work on.

Got a PM back from Sagi and Perlin that the bug in camera deletion was found and should be fixed going forward, and that the previously communicated criteria are how they expect it to work. So, go and try and delete some cameras.

What Sagi and Perlin told me, and this ammends my previous statement per their latest info:

The rank of the editor who approves the camera is the key value here. As drivers tap "Not There," their editing rank is added together. When the sum of those unique* drivers' ranks is greater than that of the rank of the camera-approving editor, the camera is removed. This process would happen as the merger process processes the drives.

*Unique meaning that one Wazer of rank 3 tapping "Not There" 500 times still only gets their rank added once.

(I still have one more outstanding question, and that is to verify that an infinite number of Level 0 Wazers has no effect.)

Okay, so what happened to the cameras in my area is this: they are now unapproved. Here are two RLCs which I've been "test-deleting" from the app for a couple of months. They are now unapproved in the editor.

This must have happened quite recently as the cameras still alerted me this morning.

Here's some more info on the camera removal situation. Take what is necessary and makes sense to integrate into the wiki page:

A Wazer of the same editor rank which approved the camera can remove a camera from the app with one tap of "Not There." (Editor rank of Wazer = editor rank of camera approver)

A Wazer with editor rank of zero has no possibility to effect camera removal.

The camera is changed to "not approved" by the merger process. That means, the drive must be processed in order for the camera status to be possibly changed.

The sum of ranks of every Wazer every time the Not There button is tapped is used to determine when the camera is removed. This is a change to previously communicated information: a Wazer of rank 2 can remove a camera approved by a rank 5 editor by tapping "Not There" three times for that camera.

That was my assumption and I've written it up in the wiki as such. It makes sense that way, we need a tile build to add or remove a camera.

Yes, it remains on the live/app map until a tile update removes it. Of course, if a camera is demoted and then approved again between tile updates, the app map will never actually change.

I can confirm, unless someone else also tried to remove this camera too, that a single tap from me will unapprove a camera I previously approved. So, the removal editor level sum only needs to equal the camera approver level.

This was an errant removal, caused by trying to tap the small "X" instead of the more useful "Close" button we had before.

It can be the same person. As noted, a level 1 editor can remove a level 5-approved camera after 5 drives through the camera. Unsure if it is 5 separately-processed Drives, or if you can go around the block 5 times in a single drive and do the same.
