You may have seen a routing anomaly for a few days.

I just fixed this UR for a left-left u-turn over a 10m segment. I made a bow-tie before thinking to preserve it for you to see. I then reverted it back to exactly how it was, confirmed by the navigation tacks so you can take a look.

The turn angles are 80, and 94. Was it ever confirmed that turn angles have to be 90 +/- 5 to work for this penalty? We can test here if not.

After finally getting a tile update, I can confirm that with these angles (80 & 94) the 10m segment IS used for a u-turn. I will now adjust the angles and leave everything else as is, to test after the next update.

I tested again today with new tiles, and 90° turn angle at both junctions. The 10m segment was not used for the u-turn. The route turned around a square block instead.

I will continue testing moving the angles away 1° at a time to find the threshold.

I have not. Maybe someone else did.

Thanks. I posted additional questions in the other thread to better understand their findings. Once I get more data I will review what needs to be done for the WIki.

Sorry, I didn't follow the conversation, I just found the thread and wrote a comment about the "Routing Penalties" Wiki page for Kent.

They are now 90+-1 and U-turn is not allowed, but when they were ~85 degree the U-turn was allowed. here are the links from the OP:
https://www.waze.com/en/livemap?zoom=17 ... n=20.97914
https://www.waze.com/editor/?zoom=7&lat ... 38&env=row

Anyway, the Wiki phrase "Waze will penalize a route with two left turns in less than 15 m" is not quite correct, since Waze will not penalize ANY left turns, but just turns which are very close to 90 degree.

I meant the intersection I was referring to originally, in Brooklyn NY USA Atlantic ave and Logan st when I gave the measurements. Sorry if I wasn't clear about that.

Please have a look at this thread: https://www.waze.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 75#p645880

Basically, Waze penalize two left turn only if both of those turns are very close to 90 degree. IMO the spread is +- 5 degree or even less.
