it must be by accident, because I had NO idea how to set categories... I am quite sure I did not manually used the [[category]] tag, I cannot tell you how it was set, sorry!

It might have been the result of the new Wiki editor maybe?

That is why I use the wikEd plugin instead. It does not isolate the editor from the raw coding, but still provides enough visual editing feedback to help sort through the raw code.

I believe we have enough feedback to go live.

1. Open the current development page and select Edit.
2. Select the entire page and copy it into your buffer (Control-C).
3. Open the current Dashboard page and select Edit.
4. Select the entire page and paste from your buffer (Control-V).
5. Fill in the change description field with:
   • Updated entire page per http://www.waze.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=276&t=87820

This will keep the old page history intact (important) and not include the adjustments we were making to the page from this forum feedback (not important in the final page).

Then if you like I can delete your draft user page.

Hello there,

Rather new to WAZE wiki, WAZE Forums and WAZE in a general way, I was ready to translate the dashboard page into French; I noticed that the dashboard has changed since it was documented in the wiki.

I am here offering to update the wiki page of the dashboard, but I am not sure how to proceed! Forgive me if I missed an important topic/message on "how to edit"... I read the "Wiki Editing Etiquette" and the "Wiki Manual of Style (Style Guide)" posts as well as the WIKI general code of editing.

My main question is: shall I just update the current page directly in the wiki? Or shall I suggest a new page and paste it here in the WIKI forum? I would definitely understood being unreliable and not someone to be trusted to you all (hey... I am French, after all! ); hence I can edit the Dashboard page, copy/paste my updated version in this forum and let you decide.

Any further advice is welcome! My only goal is to improve the wiki!

wOoPs! corrected these two in French but forgot to remove them from the original page. done now.

Forum count works like a charm! I have not counted my mesg. one by one, but it looks functional to me.

I changed the titles, as well as the capitalized WAZE (job habit! NOT having the company name in capitals is almost a crime here! ). I checked the grammar again... Hope I did not add more mistakes than there was!

I have added a few words about metric vs. imperial, as well as "USA & Canada" vs. "World". The last seems a bit messy to me, feel free to guide me on that too!

Lastly, from a strictly look and feel/graphical point of view, all texts directly taken from the dashboard page are in bold characters... Looking at the "stats" section, it seems to me that everything is bold and hence a bit... aggressive to the user's eyes! Shall I cut off some bold? put the "xxx miles" and "xxx kilometers" in italics instead of bold?

I like the you did it kentsmith9 with the image on the right! I have very few experience with the wiki advanced edition!


I have shorten the paved and driven distance by sticking miles and kilometers together. it seems a bit less bulky this way.

NOTE: the editor has changed since then. It shows a more complex menu. There is also quite a number of "unknown objects" represented as "T"s and "C"s. Just for my informatiojn, any idea what it is? "C"s would be the "{ { clear } }" you have added?
