WPCleaner, a tool used by most Wikipedia sites for page maintenance, is now available for Waze's Wiki. It is helpful for:
* analyzing pages for syntax errors
* repairing redirects (especially double-redirects after renaming a page)
* spellcheck
* translation
Kudos to NicoV, its author, for supporting us. Kent and I worked on its configuration.
It is a separate Java UI that allows you to search pages, and their linked/referenced (reverse-linked) pages, and perform wiki markup analysis and global search and replace across multiple pages.
It is NOT a tool for beginners.

Very true. But this young grasshopper has much to learn in the way of the Wiki.

qwaletee wrote:On June 2, he said he had updated it and tested it against Waze' Wiki. What makes you think it has not been updated?
I don't know if there is an update script built into it so you can verify the version via the script, however, going off the website, Kent would be correct to assume it hasn't been updated.

Big thanks go to Qwaletee for getting this ball rolling for us.

LOL
The good news is the tool will let us fix problems that we don't notice or realize are occurring in some of our pages. It will mostly save time for the Wiki admins trying to ensure consistency in the Wiki.

I see there is still no update since the May 21 release. Have you heard anything separately from the author when we should expect the next release?

Cool. I just ran a quick test and yes it has been updated for the Waze database, but the version did not change. I guess the database of supported Wikis is separate of the version (which likely only tracks feature changes).
For those who are interested in playing around with this tool, I would like to ask everyone to hold off until qwaletee and I run some basic tests to be sure there are no unforeseen complications.
We will report back here after a few days.
