Pick up not available

Hello, I wanted to use pick up feature instead of just share-drive which, if you need to pick somebody up is not ideal at all. But I can't find it anywhere. Neither meet up etc. Me and my friend are both on version 3.8.1.0, but neither of us can see these options in menu. Do you need to be signed in via facebook to use these features?
