Accidently removed my waze account

Someone else recently asked this question, so I'm going to copy & past my answer here (as their original question has been removed).

I just dug into the support pages & at the bottom of the page under the Getting Started -> Signup section it says (emphasis added).
Delete your account
There are two ways to delete your account - from the Waze application and from the Waze dashboard online. Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be reversed by the Waze team.
Sorry, but it seems like you are out of luck.

I accidentally deleted my account as well and as upset as I am about losing my points and rank I can get over that/ I just want to know why when I go to open a new account I can't use the username I previously had? If that account was deactivated then I don't see why that username would be available now since it was deactivated. And the fact that I can't reactivate the account somehow really upsets me for the simple fact that I had a lot of points and I want that username back!!
