Too bad it doesn't work that way. I often find myself wanting to preview my trip before heading out, mostly when traveling to an unfamiliar place.

That's not how Waze works... The livemap is just a display of traffic info Waze has. Permalinks are for sharing information between users (mostly editors) - not loading things in the app.

To navigate you need to search for your destination in the app. You may not get the same route that the live map generated as Waze uses real-time & historic traffic info to route a user in the fastest way possible (depending on app settings).
