I was demoted from Waze Royalty to Waze Knight!?!

Post by T-Dog1
About 3 months ago I achieved Waze Royalty and "got my crown". All was good until I installed the app on my new phone. It picked up my account correctly with all of my points but I realized I was back down to Waze Knight and it says I need another 10,000 points to get back to Royalty. Is this supposed to happen? Any ideas?

I'm locking this topic before the conversation degenerates any further.

T-Dog1 - I'm sorry we couldn't be of much help. Waze staff have very little interaction on the forums. We are all just Waze enthusiasts here with varying levels of experience. We can only guess at why you dropped from Royalty. I can add a guess of my own: often changes in Waze driver status only update once a week, normally overnight on a Monday. It may be that, by installing on a new phone, you may have to wait a week or two for your status to return to where it was.

Vince1612 - that is not really the way to speak to a new forum user, even if it was meant as a joke. Here on the forum we are pretty much all map editors with some degree of experience. It is important to remember that we are a tiny minority of the Waze user base.

The vast majority of Waze users do not know that we exist. They do not realise that the reports they send don't go to a help desk staffed by paid Waze employees, but to a bunch of unpaid enthusiasts. They don't know about points for editing, or editor bugs, or update delays. All they see is their points for driving and their Waze status and this is important to these users.

People - chill. :) We do this for the fun of it. Let's try and remember that.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who is going to be "frustrated" by this policy. My driving habits or amounts have not changed at all. All I did is install on a new phone. I'm not sure frustrating your users is a desirable trait, especially in something as volatile as the software industry. It's only a matter of time before the next, best mapping software comes along. An easier way to make that happen is to have frustrated users to begin with.

If I were a developer right now, I'd entice Waze users to come to my product by transferring their points and then adding features that Waze is sorely missing (ie. speed limits!).

Sorry. Didn't realize that I accidentally posted on a suicide prevention forum so I can see why your concerns are so much more important than mine. Bite me.
To reach king rank, you have to be in a certain top % of all Wazers in your locality (in the US, this is determined by state).
The top % is calculated once a month, and if more and more Wazers get points, it's possible that the total amount needed to reach shield / sword / crown will actually go up. While it could be frustrating, it helps us guarantee that no one gets the 'royalty' rank for good - always allowing new Wazers to come along and get it.
I just quoted the online Waze Help, users that post here are other Wazers like you, this forum is not monitored by the Waze staff.

The royalty level is for the top 1% of Waze drivers in your area, you can check the scoreboard in the app. It is probably only that some people were closely behind you but started driving more or getting more points, which got you to exit the top 1% zone and got them in. It would be a lot more frustrating for all of them never to be able to get it. It's not a VIP club, it's showing who's in the 1% most active users and updates once a month. Maybe next month you'll be back in.

And I'm not too worried about you if you don't have any bigger problems than having a crown or a sword on a GPS app.
