Candy

Since I contribute heavily to the Waze community (like over 30,000 pts in 8 days), I regularly get 750 candy popping up on my screen. However, sometimes it pops up when I load the client sitting at home or something, when I can't just go out and drive for it. When I go for my next drive, the candy is gone. Sometime later, new candy appears. Does the client ensure that all candy due to a user is successfully delivered at some time?

Some goodies will possibly appear shortly prior to Easter. Otherwise, after useing up all candies from your Scoreboard page (be it https://world.waze.com/dashboard/scoreboard/ or https://www.waze.com/dashboard/scoreboard/), you will only get Editing candies (750) whenever you will do enough map editing.

I've personally not seen any candies on my Symbian client's screen (at least in their usual/old form https://www.waze.com/images/scoreboard_old/200.png, using the "candy01.png" file on my client) since sometimes in November, when some graphical tweaks happened - maybe because their new form changed into something like https://www.waze.com/images/scoreboard/200.png and my client did not receive necessary icon files? I'm able to see just a tiny black rectangle on roads, which gets crunched afterwards (the golden pacman).

Does the recent editing candy look like https://www.waze.com/images/scoreboard/750.png this? Does anyone know the file name the recent clients are using for candies?

It does look like that. I was not able to locate the file for it... The candy01 file is still the purple one.

LOL

There are some rare occurrences when I get them on a freeway, but it's definitely not normal.

Maybe for the reason that Waze should not and does not want to distract you when you are driving 65 mph?

RallyChris wrote:They could use that same logic for the goodies during holidays/promotions also though. I agree with you, that is probably the reason. Just a little lopsided in the implementation of two very similar features.
Yes, lopsided. Although that shouldn't surprise anyone familiar with how Waze does things ;)

65 mph is “nothing” when one lives in Germany, but I do agree your point ;-) It’s a good policy.

That's because the candy pop-up is triggered by starting again after coming to a complete stop (where the speedometer on Waze reads zero -- may take a few seconds of sitting at the stop sign or light before it gets to zero). Once you start moving again (to establish which direction you're headed), the candy will then appear at the next junction between segments. :)
I was about to post on this and googled enough to find this post. ;) I wish this would be addressed, heavy editors are perpetually behind on 750 candies. I drove about 4:30 yesterday, 300 miles give or take, and only picked up about 6 candies because it was pretty much straight onto the interstate, drive for 150 miles, off the interstate. I know I have more pending, and it'd be nice to catch up on them. :)

Eventually, it'll get caught up for you. The best way to do this is to make sure that you have Waze on even when you're just driving around town (got four yesterday just from driving back and forth to my sister-in-law's house 6 blocks away, and I can usually get 2 or 3 on a round trip to church, when I don't walk the 2 blocks instead). Short trips with lots of stop signs and turns -- that's the ticket to getting all of your earned editing candies collected. :D
Yeah, I generally do keep Waze running, even on short trips... Dropping the kid off at school I usually pick up 4, to work and back usually 4.. When I bury myself in the editor and don't look up for hours, I find myself picking up candy for 2-3 sometimes more days without any further editing.. heh..

I recently got "report 1st map problem" candy, the last one missing. Seems they finally fixed this one too.

if it looks strange, it's my phone's fault
