Thanks. I didn't know they had those files. Unfortunately, they don't seem to go earlier than 3.9.4.0.

I caved and re-installed 4.x on my GS4 replacing my much loved 3.7.8.0. I want to give this a good trial since it's easy enough to reverse course.

The simplest way is to go to the play store on your phone, touch menu (3 hash lines), touch My apps & games, touch Waze, touch the menu key of your device (lower left corner on my GS4), then uncheck auto-update.

After uninstalling 3.7.8.0, I cleared all Waze folders and rebooted my phone. I d/l a fresh copy of 4.0.0.2 and installed it. I run my GS4 in portrait mode and have no complaints with a short drive. I retract my earlier comment about the run-around to set up the ability to send my ETAs.

I use Waze pretty much daily and will monitor and observe. But in portrait mode, I have no complaint about how the display functions, including the hazard alerts which come up in orange and just below my directions at the top. I'm glad the friend icon has been relocated off the map screen. My speedometer works, voices work, but I haven't tried reporting anything yet.

I'm liking 4.0 on my 1080p display. I find the enhanced letters and numbers much easier to read. I like the road I'm on showing behind my vehicle icon. But it only shows when navigating, not when simply driving. I think cross road names disappear too quickly and some don't show at all.

I tried reporting police and had no issue using the report function. I haven't tried other reports yet.

I see many street names and they are very readable on my GS4. But they disappear just about the time I get to the crossroad. I'd like to see them stay onscreen until the street is behind me.

Here are some screen shots from tonight. Waze changed over to night mode. But the Google Drive app was still in day mode. Regardless, it seems Waze has adopted the street name below the vehicle icon, but in Drive, it's there even when not navigating. Waze only shows the road being traveled when navigating, not simply driving.

Waze, night mode, driving:

Waze, night mode, navigating:

Google Drive app, day mode, driving:

The Google Drive app in night mode looks similar to the Waze night mode above.

I'm not sure why there's a Google Maps navigating app and a Google Drive app which looks to me like it does the same thing... except Drive will not time out on the screen display like Maps, when not navigating.

It would seem to logical to me that Google Maps/Drive and Waze would merge at some point in the future and offer user reporting, etc. all in one app.

Not discounting your experience, but I've seen negative charging before. I haven't traced down the culprit yet, whether it be some combination of apps or a cable or charger that can't charge at 2A or just what. Typically a phone reboot has fixed that in the past leading me to think it's more app related than hardware. But with something like 200 installed apps, I'm not excited about tracking down a mis-behaving app.

I can reorder my favorites and the new order seems to stick after I shutdown and restart Waze, but I cannot find a way to delete favorites.

Thank you for that work around.

One other thing I just noticed is that I used to be able to select a point not local as a starting point and input another destination to see the route and how long it will take to go from point A to point B. But I haven't found a way to do that yet.

I suggest you put your device model and OS in your signature.
