App "Flashing" to get me to look at while driving?

I leave for work when it is quite dark outside. Today, my phone flashed about 30 times or more in my 25 minute drive to work. I could not help but glance at phone to see if something was happening. Are you trying to take my eyes off the road, becaude you succeeded. This neess to be turned off or i will have to not use on a daily basis.

My flashes from time to time. The screen will go blank then back on..

Untrue. My Waze all of a sudden started flashing light now and then as well.

Did Waze flash between day and night modes, or did the screen just get darker and lighter?
Could it be a phone setting where your light sensor was causing this (Waze doesn't use the light sensor)?
Does it happen outside of Waze also?

There is no flashing screen feature on Waze and I've never heard about this before.

Did you try night mode?
