This is interesting. We want it much higher than the previous default for police, but not necessarily everything. There wasn't a mention of this changing specifically in the release notes. I'll be curious to see if this happens for everyone.

TTS Bug (New)
Waze is incorrectly pronouncing a cardinal direction instead of the trailing letter name for interstates and highways. Previous to this version, for "State Hwy 99W" Waze said, "state highway ninety-nine double-you" and now it says, "state highway ninety-nine west." This is incorrect and different from all previous versions. When the number and letter have no space between, Waze is to say the letter name, not the cardinal direction.

"I-35E" = "eye thirty-five eee"
"I-5 S" = "eye five south"
"I-12N E" = "eye twelve enn east"
"State Highway 99W S" = "state highway ninety-nine double-you south"

This was fine until this beta version and this must be changed back prior to release.

UI Issue for new installs
When installing Waze fresh and you are prompted for your credentials, when the user is done with the name field, hitting Return makes the keyboard go away and nothing happens. What should happe is that the cursor moves to the password field. As it is now, you have to manually tap into the field.

This subject needs to be pulled out of this thread. Is there a reason why we can't use the same format globally? I'll open a new thread in the Map forum.

When your route gets uploaded, check to see how close to the actual road you were. I've found in hilly areas on one of my regular commute route options that I often get odd map behavior. I haven't looked recently, but in the past, I've found that my phone was reporting my location not on the road. Waze was trying to reconcile my reported location to the map and things go haywire.

For example, this is one common route for me. As I reviewed the past few weeks I found many examples where the GPS location was off for several different portions of the road. This is not an insignificant amount and will cause the app to "struggle" trying to figure out how to move the map, represent your position correctly, and possibly result in "rerouting" and "proceed to highlighted route" messages.

And you've got Waze and music going over bluetooth right?

I have yet to run into any routing timeout issues. Happy to be me up here in the PNW. Sorry ya'll.

In fact, I got one of these today, too:

That's not a definite routing server health indicator, but it's a good sign nonetheless, right?

However, what remains frustrating is that I get this popup for a 2min speedup for a route change, but I will often check alternate routes manually and I often find routes which are somewhere between 2-7 minutes faster. If I can find it manually, then the client and routing server need to be able to be consistent and faster and find it for me first.

Waze output is set to nothing (not BT and not output to speaker)?

Ack! We've never figured out why the audio pauses for you instead of fading out. We still need that option to pause vs. fade. Of course, this could still be some kind of iOS limitation.

Shorty-CM wrote:edit - Actually, that traffic ding was ear-piercing, so that confirms it is still ignoring the volume slider.

Yes, I have repeated all my usual rants about the Device Volume slider being useless. Others have found that the Prompts volume slider also is inconsistent or doesn't work at all for them. Waze typically starts up at a volume different than I left it and different that the current system output volume.
