Waze steals my bluetooth pause button

When I'm listening to podcasts BeyondPod in Android, if Waze is on the screen the pause button on my bluetooth dash unit doesn't work. If I switch to another application, any other application, I can pause BeyondPod. My other bluetooth controls work when Waze is the frontmost app, i.e. skip forward, skip backward.
I went through the settings to see if the pause key did something special for waze, but found nothing. Can this be fixed?

I have the same problem. Please investigate and fix this.

Same issue on version 3.7.2 on Galaxy S4 (Sprint) Android 4.2.2.

Problem still exists in 3.5 and 3.5.1.4.

For me this is the biggest problem with Waze. I'm always listening to music while driving, and not being able to pause the music because of Waze makes me not want to use it.

I reported this bug a while ago on the beta site, it was marked as a known issue and due to be fixed in a later release.
As a work around though, you do not need to close waze, just press the menu button and the play/pause buttons work. i know this is not great, but its all we have until they fix it.
