okay now fixed

1) Changed physical location - maybe that unlocked the map? am now about one mile from where I was.
2) Uninstalled TVOUT2 app as it does control the video out functions of the IPHONE
3) Uninstalled POWERDOWN DISABLE app.
4) Updated several apps through the app store, as is my habit to do every day or so.

One of these seems to have fixed my copy of the WAZE app on my phone.

Error of a quarter size map on my iphone. can not seem to fix. of course running the latest version

That's indeed odd. I failed to reproduce (on a jailbroken iPhone).
I believe your assumption that a specific app is causing it is correct. Can you figure out which one?

No, can not figure it out yet, and I have removed a lot of apps that have no use for me. Have most of the same apps running on my jailbroken IPAD2, and no issues on that. Am trying to focus on only apps that change the display, that might reside in memory and cause a conflict in some way. All pure speculation so far.

Read something about a possible RETINA display issue. Will have to experiment with that as my IPAD2 has a RETINA fix for making IPHONE apps look like IPAD apps. That same fix is of course not on my IPHONE4. In a month I will hopefully just be able to upgrade to an IPHONE5 and solve all my issues (apple makes me believe that - though I joke that not likely to be a miracle)

But there are other bugs which crop up with autozoom off like if you aren't moving and bring up alt routes, go back without selecting a route. Waze transports you to coordinates 0,0 until you move again. I think that bug still exists...

There is a rounding-error in the calculation of speed in Waze that causes a deviation of 1-2km down and also causes that some speeds (eg. 120kmh) will never show up in the speedometer. Add that to the legally obliged deviation of the speedometer of your car and then you can get in the range of 5-10%.

Waze categorically does not fully cache route tiles when on wifi. I've experienced this many times and captured more info about it today.

I've checked the Waze speed against a couple of those mobile "Your Speed" display radar trailers and it's always been accurate. My Chevy truck reads about 73 when the Waze speed is 70 and the old BMW I just picked up was showing about 76 when Waze showed 70 mph.

Unclear if this is a client issue. I posted this to the NA map tiles thread in the Map forum as I think it's a map thing not an app thing?
