This is a deal breaker for me as well. I listen to podcasts on my commute and nothing is more annoying than:

"Car stopped on shoulder ahead..."

"Car stopped on shoulder ahead..."

"Car stopped on shoulder ahead..."

You would think "mute" means "mute".

I guess someone must have gone on a spree adding speed traps to my route then, as it was never this bad before.

No Waze for me until this gets fixed, as the noise was driving me nuts.

Pop-up alerts and their associated audio cannot be stopped or silenced at this time. It is on the roadmap to give us these settings in the app in a future version.

If I recall correctly, you can disable cameras from showing up on the map BUT you will still get alerts from them.

I have no input on the volume issue though.

Have you tried deleting the data for the app or uninstalling and reinstalling (also deleting the waze folder if you're on Android)? Might be a preferences issue. Also, don't know if this will work or not, but why not disable cameras from being shown on the map altogether (can do it in settings)?
