How to have AA auto-start Waze?

Waze makes the very valid claim that, just by driving around running Waze, you help Waze with developing traffic pattern data.

While I don't want Waze running while I'm not using Android Auto (& running down the phone's battery), it would certainly be nice if there was a way to have AA auto-start Waze. Otherwise, I have to wait until AA starts on the vehicle's head unit (takes a few seconds after starting the vehicle), and then press screen buttons to manually start Waze (while driving).

Is this a more proper question for the AA forums?

I gave this a try but unfortunately it starts Waze running on the phone, not the car head unit.

Use something like Macrodroid

Trigger - Application Launched - AA
Actions - Launch Application - Waze
Constraints - Power? Bluetooth? .etc
