It has something to do with your phone running slow AND your car’s display screen software interacting with the navigation

If you have this problem when you are connected in your car (Car Play) - and your car has a media screen, you’ll only see the turn-by-turn instructions on your phone and the map on the car’s screen. However, it doesn’t seem that the map is displayed automatically in the car, you have to select it.

I know this won’t solve everyone’s issue, but it helped me.

Thank you the code worked great! I couldn’t figure out why my map disappeared in the middle of a road trip. I have used Waze for many years. It’s my favorite navigation app! I’m curious why this happened? 

Thank you! Yes, the map was not displaying on the phone because of car play. Was available via car’s map display.
