How do you add friends if you're not on FB?

So if you cant add friends when not in FB, whats the point of the friends area? It makes the other features such as, meetups totally useless.
Need a fix for that guys. Doesnt make sense if you cant interact with your friends.

There are several aspects of the social features which need more functionality within Waze to become more helpful for non-fb users.
