Waze has stopped speaking

Previously (maybe a couple of weeks ago) it would tell me when I was approaching a red light camera, where to get off the freeway, police ahead, etc. Now I don't get anything.

Don't know why. I've checked the settings. See something in settings under "sound" that says:

"Route sound to speaker"

I've tried checking and unchecking this with no change at all.

Ideas?

Try the mute button at the top of the main menu.

If you have iOS, use the "prefer bluetooth" option. If you're on android and the headset is paired and active, it should work, but I am not an Android expert.

Waze seems kind of flakey. The last update was 3 months ago!
I'm not sure how Waze decides to output to bluetooth with Android... Sorry.

The next version is in beta test right now. Should be a new version in about 3 weeks.

Waze will send to BT automatically if iOS is connected to a device. Sound settings must be changed using the hardware buttons while a sound is playing or while a voice command prompt is on the screen.

I'm having the same issue; I don't know what has changed; I've tried the speaker icon, the sound options and am getting nothing from Waze; I may be getting something to the bluetooth headset if I"m on a phone call, but if so it's so faint that it's not helpful. When I'm commuting I can't be looking at the phone. I depend on the vocal alerts. I just made a trip with bluetooth and heard nothing! Frustrating!

re: stop speaking iphone

The mute "indicator" is a speaker symbol on the top left of the main menu (Menu header).

I played with the settings for a week. Alerts continued to work thru Bluetooth but not the turn by turn. This did the trick. Thanx

Thanks AlanOfThe Berg... Waze just started giving me trouble with the voice yesterday. But, boy, was it aggravating trying to change different settings before I thought to Google the problem. ;)

Mute button? Say what? Boy, that button is really unclear and poorly designed! They should make it flash or something when it is on mute. Let me see if that fixes the problem tomorrow.

OK, so that button makes Waze speak now. BUT, it will only talk through the phone speaker, not through my bluetooth headset.

I DO NOT have that parameter route sound through speaker turned on.
