Screen Burn WARNING and suggestion please

Post by William516
My new Note 2 has suffered damage from using the waze app for navigation. Please watch the use of waze on a phone and also turn down the screen brightness. I would suggest that waze please allow the user to customize the transparency of the icons for menus or get rid of the dark background around the icons. Maybe just some text with no background.

I would just ask that somehow this be addressed before more people fall victim to this problem. I have contacted Samsung who has agreed to fix the phone or replace it. It has only been used for 5 months or less.

It is surely Waze that caused the screen problem because the burn is in the exact spots of the speed, menu, and direction icons. It is on the most and is the best app on the phone. I use it every day.

Please give us this option, I love Waze and use it all the time. I hope to be able to continue to use the app with options that will reduce the effect of screenburn.

Thankyou

I had screen burn-in on my Galaxy S4. I posted a reply on viewtopic.php?f=3&t=85877&p=764821#p764821

The S4 has an AMOLED screen which is different than LCD or LED and thus prone to burn-in.

It would be nice if Waze can customize the color and position of objects, or have the objects swap positions from top to bottom to prevent burn-in. Also it would be great if the Waze app can go full screen so the Android status bar at the top doesn't get burned-in.

This shouldn't happen to any phone or any screen, doesn't matter how you use it.
The fact even that Samsung is willing to fix it shows it's not normal behavior for a phone to get these kinds of burns.
So, I don't see why Waze should change it's screen-layout into something less readable just for a defect in your (specific) phone.

This only happens with amoled-screens, not with LCD screens.

My last phone was a Note 2, current Note 3. Never had burn in and I constantly use Waze. Maybe it is a bad screen and you need to contact Samsung for replacement?

Agreed that this is not Waze's fault, but knowing that there are issues with this screen type and knowing the typical use case (App stays on screen for long periods), waze should offer additional solutions, like periodically moving, hiding, or changing the colors used on persistent images.
At a minimum, there should be a warning, if not already there.
