Galaxy S4 heats up

after recent update my galaxy s4 becomes very hot when using waze. is there anything that i need to change or doing wrong?

my s4 is connected to car adapter, placed in the dash and has waze navigation with voice prompts.

please help.

i tried uninstall/reinstall, clearing the data etc.

This is kind of normal, since you are using the GPS antenna, the cell phone antenna for data, a lot of CPU for processing, the screen constantly on, and of top of that charging your battery while in the dash of your car, hope not in direct sunlight, and if you have Bluetooth it makes things worse, so it's kind of normal, you should place it by the AC vent to keep it cool

The same happens with my iPhone

Turn of radios you are not using like wifi or Bluetooth

Hi,
I have galaxy S3 but I know that when in use while charging it heats up very much especially if you're using waze (for all the reasons the others stated). Try to charge your phone in advance and it should be much better.
And also, If your phone is facing straight sun light that's a pretty probable reason for it's temperature.

Make sure the brightness is down as much as you are comfortable with. That is often a big source if heat.
