"Unofficial" turn restrictions
Take a look at this UR:
https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... st=4347277
I did take a look at this route -- going toward Punahou School, the driver is bound for H-1 West and is directed to turn right at Dole Street and circling around to Clark Street and a left back on Punahou Street, making an immediate turn to the onramp:
Didn't realize how difficult it was until I had a little time to kill this week and tried it. At rush hour I realized how unsafe it is -- traffic coming off or going on the freeway is coming from both directions. There's a big tree that wrecks visibility for anyone trying to make that left (I have a photo but can't get it to display properly).
Actually I ran it a few times, and I had to hesitate so long at Clark and Punahou that Waze started to reverse the routing, going counterclockwise around that circle, which was better -- there's a light at Dole and Punahou, at least. But I tried it again today and it was back to the rotten routing again.
So I've put a rush-hour time-based restriction there. Anyone think this is a bad idea? I wonder if anyone has found other places that are hazardous and in need of a restriction.
At some point, we've been promised, there will be a tool in WME to "downgrade" certain routes, and when that is released, we could remove any such workarounds.
