I don't live in southshore but when I saw the news about Mercier bridge closure this morning, I was curious to see how Waze reacts about it.

At 7:44AM, I checked Waze/Google Map/Apple Maps:
GM:
Waze:
AM: (Sorry my iPhone crashed so I can't save the photo, but AM shows both directions are closed)
No report comes from Waze nor Google Maps. If I navigate to Kahnawake Waze asks me to go via Mercier Bridge.
Apple Maps seems to be the most accurate one (surprise!)

At 8:32AM, again nothing from Waze. Google Maps reports Montreal-bound remains closed but the southshore-bound is opened. This matches whats CTV News reports.
What's interesting from AM is the incorrect information. It says Montreal-bound is opened but the other direction is closed. It contradicts to the news report.
GM:
Waze:
AM:

At 9:18AM, same as before. Nothing from Waze. GM reports the correct info (Montreal-bound closed). AM reports both directions are opened.

Waze:

Closures are reported by Wazers. If no wazers report the closure, there's not much we can do. If you know of an emergency closure, you can ask any L4 editor to add it; it will appear in real time on the map.

Drivers won't be able to close the bridge itself thru the app because they'll never reach it. They can only report the closure at the location where they are deviated from their normal itinerary. If a highway is closed for example, they'll be able to report the closure of the barred entrance ramp. It's not a perfect system, but it usually works well provided enough wazers report these closures. If all entrances to the bridge are closed by Wazers, you won't get routed on it even if it's technically open. I'm not sure why this wasn't the case this morning.

And fyi, I've heard that the governement is currently looking into the Connected Citizens Program. It would be pretty neat if the traffic control center (CIGC) in Montreal could add real time closures to Waze directly.

Both directions are open now.
