This morning, for example, the bridge was supposed to re-open at 5:30AM. The contractor ran into problems and the bridge remained closed until approximately 2:30PM. It will be open all of this weekend, though, through Tuesday. Last Monday, there was also a delay in opening.

These were last minute changes of plan, and a lot of commuters were caught off guard both mornings. The city was a mess. According to the CBC, the bridge commission has since said

the contractor, American Bridge Company, will not be permitted to close the bridge again until it can ensure there will be no delayed openings.

Things are in flux at the moment, and this bridge is a major artery in Halifax, so this situation warrants close attention IMHO.

It is indeed helpful, thanks! I'm glad you're keeping an eye on things. This bridge issue has the potential to be a long-term headache. I'll also try to send a closure update using the app if I learn of something early in the morning.

I follow the posted information on Bridge Commission website here - https://www.hdbc.ca/updatesclosure-times and apply those changes to the segments.
As you can see I didn't set any closures for this weekend.

The issue the other day with the Project Contractor was likely something that not planned and got outside of the planned schedule, therefore the only way to address this could have been by users reporting the closure form their app - https://support.google.com/waze/answer/ ... -658048314.

In an ideal world the Bridge Authority could report this to us and we can apply this immediately for such changes, but until they come on board with that I think it is better to be reported by the users.

I can assure you that the regular schedule posted on the link I sent yo is updated by me personally on a regular basis.

Closure updates through the App are important but will only kick in when other users report the same thing, so it is depending on how many users in the area using Waze and doing that, so I know we don't have too many in the Halifax area.

If it is helpful you can always try to post a message here on this thread and me or someone else will be notified and could address it.
The response time is critical and unfortunately can not be guaranteed.

If you do send an urgent request please include a reference to a post on Twitter or something like that from the bridge authority, so we could confirm that.
