Problem - Disappearing Construction Closures

Post by GeekGuy61
The following roads in Victoria, BC are closed for construction, yet no longer have the construction closures in effect in Waze -- Wazers are reporting the problem in UR's.

These closures were submitted in 2014, to extend into 2015. I also resubmitted the Cook Street closure a week ago using this form. Interestingly, both closures remain in the Canada closures spreadsheet.

I suspect the closures disappeared with the new calendar year. They were definitely still active in Waze in December.

Johnston Street Bridge Upgrade - Harbour Road Realignment

"[CONSTRUCTION]" UR's are on the map showing more detail re the closures.

Any thoughts? Is this problem better chased in a different forum?

TIA

Hi Kayos:

Thanks for the feedback. Realize now that the updated segments (two of them, actually) were from me adding a commercial driveway. The Harbour Road problem was probably from me correcting an edit from a newbie editor (not that I'm all that new :) .

Interestingly, I resubmitted the entire length of Cook Street a week ago or so. It's showing up on the live map now... but didn't show within the day or two that such updates normally appear.

Also interesting that those renumbered segments broke the entire construction closure... chalking that up to "learning something new every day".

I'll resubmit Harbour Road within the next day or so.

Thx!

I'll resubmit and after looking for up-to-date info re the closure duration.
FYI: The whole project was delayed due to quality issues with some of the steel... having to get much remanufactured in China.

I can explain the Cook St one... There are updated segment IDs here which has broken the Construction flag. You will need to resubmit this with the new segment IDs. These three are the new ones not in the closure sheet:

For the Johnson St bridge, I can't explain that one, everything appears to be in order. DocKB may have some insight on that one.

I'm finding that it's taking longer to have the updates done (as in the couple of days you're mentioning). I think a senior editor like manoeuvre, docKB or ski need to move the info onto the main sheet.

Splitting or altering a closed segment can/will remove the closure. That's normally why we lock closed segments to L5 to prevent changes from being done. Hopefully with nearby [ROADWORKS] URs, higher level editors will use caution when dealing with those segments.

In the future, if there is a problem on the closure sheet, please 'Insert Comment' next to the relevant cell it's the fastest (<24hrs) way for Waze Staff and those monitoring the sheet to take a closer look at the problem.

Edit > Find & Replace (Ctrl+H) the segment ID

^I find that to be the fastest way to find your closure.

I can wait for your harbour form or ask Waze to re-close 82631468 (Jan 2015 Tab > Line 20)
