Local Traffic Only

What is the best way to mark roads signed as "LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY" when said road may provide a shortcut?

Is it appropriate to mark the entrance of such as private road to discourage Waze from routing unless the destination is on said road?

Now that I think of it, I don't think the "local traffic only" signs are enforceable in Alberta either. Other than perhaps a generic ticket along the lines of "failing to obey traffic sign."

In Ontario we don't restrict based on orange/black signs that typically say things like "local traffic only" since they are unenforceable. Check the local laws. There's some Ontario info here:
