Please follow the following steps so that we may efficiently process your requests:
(For Staff Unlock/Update Requests, see bottom of this post!)

UNLOCK REQUEST INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Include the city and province of your Request in the "Subject:" line of your message post.
  2. Indicate if you are an Area Manager for your requested segment(s), and your editing rank, so that we better know to what rank it needs to be unlocked to, as well as how any re-locking of the segments should be handled.
  3. Select the segment(s) you are requesting to be unlocked in the Waze Map Editor, then create a Permalink to include in your message post.
    1. Click on the road segment to be unlocked or for multiple segments, use Cmd+Click (Mac) or Ctrl+click (Windows) or multi-select mode.
    2. Click on the chain link ("Permalink") icon in the lower right corner below the map. Image
    3. Perform a COPY of the URL (web address) from your browser's address bar.
    4. Perform a PASTE of the URL into your post.
    5. If the request includes segments of different lock levels group them into several permalinks according to lock level (several related permalinks in a single request is acceptable).
  4. Provide a short explanation of why you are requesting the unlock. Please note that a higher level editor may choose to fix the problem themselves so higher value segments will remain protected at their level.

SENDING A PM (Private Message)
If your thread has not been addressed within 2-3 days, try sending a PM (Private Message) to one of the Canadian Country Managers (CM) that are active on this board. A list is available here: http://www.waze.com/wiki/index.php/Canada#Area.2FCountry_Managers. Here's the easiest way to do this:
  1. Open your thread.
  2. Click the "PM" button Image in your info on the right.
  3. In the "Compose Message" window, click the "X" button next to your name in the "To:" field.
  4. Type the CM's name into the textbox below that field.
  5. Click the "Add" button next to that box.
  6. Add any additional information that you desire (the necessary data will already be there, including a link to the thread and a copy of your post).
  7. Click the "Submit" button.

THANK THE EDITOR and MARK SOLVED
When the request or unlock has been completed, click the Image ThumbsUp icon on the reply from the editor who completed your request, and also click the Image green checkmark to show that the request has been completed properly.

STAFF UNLOCK REQUESTS
Until the locked segment issue is resolved by Waze, they ask that segments locked to editor rank "(staff)" be handled by Waze Support staff by completing this form: http://tinyurl.com/unlockstaff

Thank you for your willingness to help make Waze maps even better, and for your patience in working through this "Unlock Request" process.
