I get what you are saying; yet what about the bike lanes strictly from a motorist's point of view? Surely showing them would help us drivers be more aware of bicyclists, no? Perhaps editing the affected street name's to include something to show that, like +BL (for Bike Lane)? Maybe I'm straining at gnats here, but I can see the value in that. Or maybe those roads could have a pink(or some other color) line/border on either side of the road to indicate it as well (which could then be used on whatever type of street/road it might be, from minor highway to a cul-de-sac.daknife wrote:Please ask your friend to NOT use waze while biking. There are apps for biking, Waze is for driving. Such use corrupts the traffic data and is thus strongly discouraged. And the corruption of said traffic data is a reason Waze is not likely to provide a bike option anytime soon, GPS's just aren't accurate enough to discern between a bike lane and the neighboring traffic lane. Also walking trails are not to be mapped in. Waze is designed for commuter use. They may increase the scope in the future but that is still likely to be a long time out.
Do not add walking trails, I will delete any and all I see. While they are not totally forbidden in the wiki, anytime they start getting added they start getting junctioned with the road network and that will cause problems. Waze will try to avoid such routes but if available it will give routings on such supposedly non-driveable routes.
I totally see your point, daknife about the data getting messed up. Yet seeing as bikers on the road are certainly a potential hazard (and Waze goes to such great lengths to help us be aware of such driving hazards), I believe that indicating such lanes would help all Wazers be at least a bit more careful while "sharing the road" as the bicyclists say.
