Utah's Belated Functional Classification Thread
We're a bit behind the curve on this. Not because I don't support it, but because I've been busy and nobody else steps up, or even seems to participate in the Waze forums in this state.
We have to get to work on converting the road network in Utah to meet compliance with the Federal Functional Classification system with a couple modifications needed to facilitate routing in Waze.
Each state DOT generates their own FC maps, which are then authenticated at the National Level. Utah's are located here UDOT FC page
I strongly suggest taking the time to read through the very lengthy thread discussing this. viewtopic.php?f=276&t=85397 It took me a while to see the benefit of this massive number of edits needed, but the benefit is real and will only serve to improve Waze.
The Wiki entry on this is also critical reading, mostly to see how to actually categorize the changes.
I've started around the Roy/Riverdale area and will start working out from there. It'll take a little while to get a large enough area to really see the overall effects. So for the time being we need to start on the Primary collectors, converting them to Major Highways, we'll work down from there. I've already converted Hwy 89 border to border to MH, any other US hwy's need to be changed as well. Including US 6, US 40 and US 91 where it doesn't run with US 89. And any others I've missed.
If any questions feel free to PM me, and if needed I can launch a G+ hangout so we can discuss it there.
