It won't work, I'm afraid. Adding an alternate name can trigger detour avoidance, but it depends on another factor - there needs to be a change in road type over the detour. At a typical dual carriageway & roundabout junction there are ramps, so it will work. Here it's all major highway.

Could you, perhaps, remove this segment and then control the turns at a single junction node?

That sounds like a much better idea. In fact, everything off of the A5036 should be downgraded to minor highway and that should directly help with the detour avoidance. I probably wouldn't bother with the alternate name unless it happens again.

I've downlocked all of that to 3. Unless any of it has an auto(4) level on it, it doesn't need to go back to 4.
