[IN PROGRESS] A683 Heysham, Morecambe

Post by TheMKLightning
New link Road from A683/A589 junction to remodelled J34 M6

https://www.waze.com/editor/?lon=-2.831 ... ,151769463

These roadworks are for remodelling the A683/A589 junction, which is going from a roundabout to a crossroads. Will also include a new entrance (and exit) to McDonalds and the housing estate and the new A683 itself. It will not be necessary to return things to the original layout

Updates are to be found at http://heyshamlink.lancashire.gov.uk/

The roundabout is no longer a roundabout, from Morecambe you can only go straight on, From Lancaster you can go left or straight on. You are not currently able to approach this roundabout from Heysham, turns onto the A683 northbound carraigeway have been turned red accordingly.

Hi Laurence

UR raised yesterday, reporting that this bridge over the M6 is open again now. OK to reconnect?

Hi Stu,
its hard to say, the reporter could be describing the bridge over the M6 or they could be describing the Kellet Ln bridge over the new link road, especially when you consider the position of the UR. I reinstated that road late on Sunday 28th June - it may not have been reinstated on the reporters app by the time of the report.

http://heyshamlink.lancashire.gov.uk/ne ... -lane.aspx says, in part,
'Monday 29 June marks a significant milestone in Costain’s progression as they will re-open Kellet Lane to traffic following completion of the new Carus Bridge.

... Carus Bridge will carry Kellet Lane traffic over the newly created link road ...

To coincide with the re-opening of Kellet Lane engineers will close Foundry Lane for upto 12 months on Monday 29 June, as Costain engineers commence work to extend the existing bridge over the M6 to accommodate the new northbound sliproads underneath.'

I would probably ask the reporter whether he actually means the bridge over the new link road has been reinstated as that is what his GPS trace would suggest.

I wont be nearby soon, so can't check for myself but have found the heyshamlink website to be very good, with weekly updates to road closures, so would tend to go with that. However, if it is felt better to reinstate the bridge over the M6 until we are certain that is fine by me.

Foundry Lane route over the M6 was definitely still closed when I drove there the other day and the Heysham Bypass site states it's due to be closed until 24 March 2016. Based on the edit I saw on the Waze map I also made a similar change to OSM too.

Yes fully open to traffic now https://twitter.com/BBCNWT/status/793103145979088896

I did start to update but it's a complex network so thought I'd best leave to the more proficient editors!
