If you are using an iPhone, look in Menu->Settings->General->Notifications. You can turn them off there.

Note that most of these options only suppress them showing on the map.

Alert while sitting still will still occur (if you have not suppressed them from the map).
Also note that if you have join a group, the default behavior is to show new items for the group immediately. This is also a setting.

I don't know if you can do this on an Iphone, but on a Droid, you can edit the Waze preferences file and set it so that you don't receive popups when the car is stopped. Ever. Just set the "min speed" to -1 (negative 1) and it'll never trigger a pop up.

Considering Waze is now serving up ads while stopped, I wouldn't be surprised to see any ability to suppress pop-ups while stopped disappear.

It is a setting which determines at what speed the popups begin to appear. I dont see how that can simply disappear.

On my SD card when I attach phone as mass storage, it's under

waze/preferences

Use notepad, search for min speed

To left of min speed are some popup parameters which also may be useful

They can simply hardcode the zero-speed check and not use the value in the preference file.
