Kanwal, NSW. House numbers - 2 issues

Post by Arose62
I attempted to add house numbers to my cul-de-sac.

https://world.waze.com/editor/?zoom=7&l ... TTTTTTTTFT

However, I found 2 issues:

1) I could not enter "6a" as a house number - it only seems to accept numeric characters.

2) the map editor seemed to want the house numbers to alternate across the street (even one side, odd the other), whereas our cul-de-sac is numbered sequentially along the left hand side as you enter, turn around and exit.

How do I overcome these?

Well, the number "6" has been placed on the building which is "6A", so it should probably be placed on number "6", and "6A" be left unnumbered.

While it's no big deal to me, if I *did* live in "6A", I'd be pretty unimpressed by having Waze tell me that my house number was invalid.

This whole map editing thing is getting to be too much effort - I've added streets, driven in munching mode up and down dotted streets, and nothing seems to change. Arbitrary restrictions like 'purely numeric' for house 'numbering', on top of the numerous spelling mistakes, and random teleporting of suburb names from far, far away have combined to help me decide to just be a 'consumer' from now on - I'll just drive, report, and watch for reports from others.

Cheers,
Andrew

Hi Arose62,

Please have a read of the Wiki House Numbers in WME, to assist in numbering houses.

Normally (as you would expect) numbering houses is EVEN on one side, ODD numbers on the other. Should the street not conform to the known numbering scheme of the country, a street can be Forced. This option is limited to Level 3 editors and up.

I have numbered Samantha Close, Kanwal, NSW for you. One thing you will note is that you can't have 2 houses with the same number, and you can't use letters (only numeric), so "6" & "6a" have been labelled half way to cover both properties.

Hope that helps. :)

Waze does not use the Street numbering system at this stage.

Map Editing is a requirement as we are still mapping Australia. The advantage of the community doing this is so it's 'custom' built by volunteers such as yourself. If we didn't have editors, we probably wouldn't have streets!
Unfortunately due to inaccuracies and spelling of some Wazers, some spelling mistakes did creep in, but we are fixing those as we get the reports.
Multiple Suburbs in several states was due to a smudge caused by the earlier Cartouche & WME versions. This is slowly being fixed and then hopefully soon, we will also have a State category available which will eliminate the smudge of some areas.

Cheers
