That's because your phone has a funny font as the default - not Waze's fault.

Yes, there are a lot of strings that seems to not be used anywhere on the client, but in this case there's a reason for that - the strings are the same for the beta and the official client, so both pairs should be there. Of course eventually one day it would be nice to remove some of the old strings when those old client versions are ensured to be gone, but that may be hard. This is why there are so many almost-duplicated strings - same sentence, but with dot, or exclamation point, or three dots in a row "..." or with spaces ". . ." or with capital letters or or or or....

Basically I did my end-to-end sweep by downloading the file and running a lot of perl regexp voodoo on it, and a lot of vi. Using transifex is nice for adding a couple of well known translations, but for a new language or a full fix do it manually.

I can give you more details (on a new thread?) of how I did this and [http://world.waze.com/wiki/index.php/Lang.portuguese_pt2]this[/url].

[Solved] Missing translation of report direction

Postby fotrik » Fri Feb 15, 2013 1:15 pm

The original text for report direction "My lane" / "Other lane" is changed to "My side" / "Other side" in the latest beta and missing on Transifex.

BTW, the icon arrows showing the direction and side have correct direction but are on incorrect side for most of the world - left for "My side" and right for "Other side" which is, together with the text, very confusing.

...and seen in the client already. The remaining problem is the icon image with the arrow which is sometimes on the correct side but sometimes on the other one from the currently selected direction. It's seems that it's intended to have the side localized left or right according to the country "habits" but the implementation is still buggy in the last beta. It's reported also in the beta feedback thread.

The translations are migrated from Transifex to the client manually, you have to wait for the next round. And then you have to run the client twice - first start the new language file is downloaded but still used the old one.

Just for clarification:
When you turn on report screen the arrow is on the correct side (right side) :

If you tap on the icon it switches to the wrong / UK side.

During driving you can't read the text so you are depending on the arrow, which is shown on the wrong / UK side of the road.

It's the size of the Font and that's not the issue :)

Nevertheless, issue remains with the 'wrong' side of the arrow ... pictures show the issue
