road name not searchable without city

Postby ee61re » Sun Jun 15, 2014 7:48 am

As per a UR here:
https://www.waze.com/editor/?lon=-0.991 ... 00&env=row

Search in Live map or client for 'Blackberry Close', the road is not in the list of results (but others further away are).

Search for 'Blackberry Close, Clanfield', and it finds it.

Equally, search for 'Duncton Road' (which is nearby), and the first result is 'Duncton Road, Waterlooville, Hampshire, PO8 0YR' - which is actually the correct road, but Waterlooville is further south - should be Clanfield. - see below

https://www.waze.com/editor/?lon=-0.991 ... 846&zoom=5

Search for 'Duncton Road, Clanfield' or 'Duncton Road, Waterlooville' - it finds it.

Not sure if this is a search issue, or a cities issue, or what??

Hi Tim - Just came to the same conclusion and updated the UR...
https://www.waze.com/editor/?lon=-0.99111&lat=50.93847&zoom=5&layers=997&&mapUpdateRequest=3269554&env=row
..before spotting your post here :roll:

I have reported this via Google Map Maker so hopefully it will be corrected soon.

Morning EE61RE, found this post from the UR.

Can you get the user to try searching for "black Berry close" - the space is very important.

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Cla ... 94da166a0e

Google maps has it with a space, so the first set of search results is Googles Results, and the only way we can get it fixed is to get google's results updated to correct the name to remove the space.

Are you happy report the problem via the google maps site?

it's probably the same, with Google having Duncton in waterlooville rather than Clanfield.
