Tip: Visualise How It Will Look
When you're mapping some landmarks or roads in detail, it's important to consider how it will look on users' devices. The editor lets you zoom in a lot closer than the app does, so to get the same sense of scale, zoom to about the middle of the slider (zoom = 5, scale = 200ft). Any detail that does not appear at that zoom level, will not be visible in the client.
And that's just for the maximum zoom on the app. When travelling a speed the map will be zoomed out even further, so check which area places appear with the editor zoomed out another notch (zoom = 4, scale = 500ft). You can hover over the permalink icon to see which zoom you're at, or look at the scale bar at the bottom.
In the Livemap, the highest zoom level is slightly higher than it is in the app, so zoom out one step to simulate how it might look for users (zoom = 16).
Also, bear in mind that the roads appear thicker in the client, and 99.9% of users never change from the default theme. Oh, and area places get massively simplified before they get added to the map tiles - stick to just 4 corners where possible.
Less is more!
