To clarify what I'm proposing:

If the sign has a picture* of a lorry, and 3.5T, then it should be mapped as a lorry restriction. This weight limit refers to the maximum gross weight, and is used to restrict the class of vehicle, rather than their actual weight.

Signs without weights to be treated as above, including "No HGV Access" and "Unsuitable for HGVs". Similarly, signs that say "HGVs Only" should restrict all vehicles except lorries. However, lorry signs with higher weight restrictions should be ignored.

Signed weight restrictions for (say) a weak bridge are also in terms of MGW, and so should be treated the same if they are for 3.5 tonnes (give or take half a tonne).

*When looking to a picture of this sign, I really struggled to find one with 3.5T on it. I don't know if that means they are not common, or just poorly represented in cyberspace. There are, however, many examples of 5T and 7.5T. Please keep an eye out of these signs, and post back how common they seem to be.

Width and Height limits should not be mapped as restrictions within Waze.

Unfortunately, we're unable to support restrictions of Commercial Vehicles at this time, but we will keep working to find a solution for that.

Correct. :)

The jury is still out on the definition of "Truck" (Lorry), and even Waze aren't sure what to do about it.
So, for the time being, do not add HGV restrictions, and any existing restrictions should be left as they are.

Please do keep looking out for signage as you crawl around Street View, and continue to post your thoughts on what might be most useful and practical for our users. Thanks.

The app simply doesn't show the road at all. Removing the restriction clears the issue.
So it appears that waze is applying the restriction to all users.
That sounds like a bug that shouldn't be happening - can you provide examples?

It looks like the restriction has been setup incorrectly, as Taxis, Cars and Motorcycles have been marked as not allowed to use that segment, with all other vehicle types allowed. In other words, the restrictions need to be inverted. A comment in the Description would be useful too.

Not a bug.

I have seen some roads that are designed for HOV in Bristol. But these are always a lane on normal road (marked 2+ for example) and so there are no roads I have seen that are HOV only. (I have never seen a 3+ lane though).
Has this been the experience of other users?
On the limits for trucks, I know most UK trucks have 3 bands LGV (<=3.5Ton), HGV <=7.5T and HGV >7.5T. But is it restricting the use of Waze if we do not include these for routing etc. The trucking community is a very large one and would boost the use and revenue a lot.
Also, what about walkers, cyclists etc. all useful users that are being excluded? or should we not use the other features like the details of places that you can not drive to? remove woods, lakes and rivers (not of use).

I say "ok, fine", but the wiki has to support that. It can't be left in the default state of encouraging editors to add restrictions where there are some, resulting, as you note, in some confusion.
