[Script] WME Validator Localization for United Kingdom

Post by
What is WME Validator?
This script validates a map area in Waze Map Editor, highlights issues and generates a very detailed report with Wiki references and solutions (more info). The list of validations can be found here.

What is WME Validator Localization for United Kingdom package?
Localization package is a script that tunes WME Validator up for United Kingdom.
The script can enable/disable checks, set params and exceptions.

In United Kingdom, it mainly checks for incorrect names and abbreviations on streets.

Important Note 1: This is not the final version of this package, and there may be some checks that are missing or incorrect. Please post feedback and suggestions below, and check back for updates.

Important Note 2: Remember, not everything that Validator highlights is necessarily an error or needs to be fixed. Consider the these to be advisory warnings only.

How to install the WME Validator Localization for United Kingdom package?
  1. Install the required WME Validator (if not installed - Firefox requires the User Script Manager below to be installed first)
  2. Install the required User Script Manager for your internet browser (if not installed)
  3. Install the script from WME Validator Localization for United Kingdom
  4. Launch the User Script Manager Dashboard (Tampermonkey/Greasemonkey) and make sure WME Validator Localization for United Kingdom script is there.
  5. (Re)load Waze Map Editor
Happy editing!

Is it possible to have this updated to not highlight roads starting with onto.
Take exit onto A45
This would bring it in line with the new naming policy for ramps.

Unless I've totally misunderstood the new naming convention.

With the general failure of Validator and the new release of WMEMagic I assume we would like an official UK localisation, rather than some random body looking after any UK specific rules/options.

The easiest way to check is change a road abbreviation to the full word (Ave > Avenue, Rd > Road, etc), the UK localisation should then highlight this segment as needing attention. You may need to refresh WME.

Don't forget to change it back ;)

I've noticed that Validator has the wrong link back to the wiki on abbreviations, there is no underscore in the correct URL.
"171.problemLink": "W:UnitedKingdom/Roads#Abbreviations",
@TomS03, as for the localisation not showing, I'm not able to reproduce the issue, I can only suggest you check TamperMonkey is actually running the script, is it enabled :?:

As this is just a localisation of the main script there is nothing to fix with it, all this add-on does is highlight UK issues with road names and lock levels etc. It still highlights errors as you pan around the map, just the scan and report creation done by the main script is borked.

I'm sure we would; but with the Magic Tool only just having been released (which I suspect was pushed forward by the latest failure of Validator), the Magic author(s) is already being bombarded with requests!

I think that we can manage with US English and defaults for a bit, before we need to try & sort out UK localisations. Also, the experience of seeing validation concerns that affect the rest of the world may lead us to considering what we want to see.

One thing I've noticied:
Node B: Non-drivable connected to drivable (slow) (#115)
The non-drivable segment makes a junction with a drivable at node B: wiki
Disconnect node B from all of the drivable segments.
Do we still need to report this? I was under the impression that non-driveable (i.e. footpaths) could now be connected to driveable nodes.

Thanks :-)
You don't need to to anything about it. It's already been requested on the Validator topic to have that check removed.

Seems to be broken (I've also posted this in the main Validator script forum), is there any chance of a fix?

I've recently discovered this script and it's been really useful – I've tidied up quite a few road names.

But, it keeps flagging up roads with the "Val" abbreviation for Valley such as Rock Val, Mansfield which seems to comply with the wiki.

Not sure if it's script error or user error. Any thoughts would be welcome.
