How would we deal with exits ramps that don't connect to numbered roads?

Example:

and numerous others around Runcorn.

Even sometimes the ramps connect to numbered roads, but are not mentioned on the signs, like B5155 Runcorn Spur Road @ Permalink

Not sure what i do with this off or this
I would leave both of those with 'No name' and Waze would (should) then say 'take the exit to [which ever way they're going]'.

Just a curiosity on one of Tim's example, this segment has been named 'A1079>Hull' acted as a wayfinder. Should it be a 'ramp' type? Otherwise there is a chance the 'A1079>Hull' will be shown on the map? Well, I know if it is a 'ramp' type, we will have 'exit left...' instruction

Yes, this small segment is OK. It doesn't show in the app.

But this segment is a bit longer and can be seen in the app and livemap.

I'll start to rename some ramps in Newcastle and physically go there to test them. If I remember, I'll record them on the dashcam.

For the 1st example, I tested it from A64(W) to A1079 (see screenshot)

I expect to here 'exit left onto A1079 > Hull', that also shows on Tim's route checker. But I only got 'exit left' in the app. By design, it should say the next 'named segment', ie. 'A1079 > Hull' (the small segment) if the ramp is unnamed. It seems it's not the case.

Interestingly I found a thread back to 2012 and I have already used a small segment on roundabout exit to match road sign but I used a small ramp instead of the same road type to the following segment.

I will put that on the two examples that I did in 2012 and do some test after the map tile update.

Gets my vote - the shorter the better ( shortest audible interjection to whatever I'm listening to in the car) and consistent with signage. I'm trying it out on a junction I use a lot.

I am definitely in favour of shortening and simplifying the ramp names - and that the primary aim of ramp names is to make the instructions match the signs so users can relate them to what they see out of the windscreen. I therefore particularly like
Timbones wrote:* No junction numbers on entry ramps.
* ramps can be disambiguated using "> city" instead of cardinals, as per signage.
I'm not sure on leaving ramps unnamed just because there's no instruction needed though - as the segment name is also used on traffic/hazard reports and therefore show on the "Reports Ahead" screen so users can understand where the problems are.
Timbones wrote:Examples:
Motorway splits should have short 'wayfinder' ramps so that these names don't appear on the map.
...
6. This motorway split will announce: "Exit left onto Junction 41 to M62" and then either "Keep left onto M62 towards Hull" or "Keep right onto M62 towards Manchester".
With a Motorway to Ramp change on both splits won't this give "Exit left" and "Keep right"?

I'm also aware that short wayfinder segments are sometimes causing problems with gaps in the traffic bar feature, although I'm not sure how common this is - hopefully it's an exception and therefore just deal with it as a special case.
